Lazy Learning

Resting is essential for optimal learning to occur.

Yes, you can just push through and keep chugging along... but if these classes have taught you anything, then you know about the nature of diminishing returns. That's why I schedule regular bouts of Integration Time into the class schedule, and into my own personal calendar.

Taking periodic breaks allows your nervous system to build all those new synapses needed for learning and creativity to happen. It takes a bit of time to integrate new neural pathways so that they continue to be available for you into the future.

It also takes a bit of courage to push back against the dominant culture of urgency and having to look busy all the time to be validated.

Resting isn't as lazy as it's made out to be. It's an active, culturally subversive act and it will actually make you more productive!
