Welcome to a new moon and a new season! The creeks are full and the yards are sloppy with freeze/thaw/freeze. I spent about an hour getting my car unstuck from a soft spot in my driveway this weekend.

Some call it mud season… for obvious reasons. I call it maple syrup season because the sap only runs for the few weeks while we have above freezing days and below freezing nights. A friend of mine told me we have entered wrong coat season… because for the next few weeks, whatever coat you are wearing will be the wrong coat for the weather that day. 😁 (I’ve already had a few wrong coat days myself!)

One thing is clear. I am finding myself navigating the connections between my internal and external worlds. Things are simultaneously falling apart and coming together. Ideas & concepts I have learned to rely on are quickly dissolving and to my surprise and delight, something new is emerging.
I have been practicing moving away from trying to act “appropriately” and “professionally” in the dead-end quest to fit-in to dominant culture’s expectations. Instead, I am challenging myself to be authentic as often as possible. For example, if someone asks, “How you doing?” instead of reflexively saying, “Fine, thanks. And you?” I actually answer their question honestly in the moment! (A fun experiment - I recommend 😁)
I’ve met a lot of new people recently and the reactions are endlessly entertaining. Often they chuckle with surprise! Suffice to say, the connections are immediate and profound. I crack open my heart a little bit and I feel theirs cracking open in response. This gives me great hope for the world.

So, perhaps we can use our creative curiosity to reimagine a world we truly want to be in, beginning with a growing awareness of what we say, how we think, how we move, and how we relate to ourselves and each other… and then we'll already be practiced in building community, connection, and resilience for when all else fails and the walls come tumbling down.
Me personally, I'm working on listening to our elders: the trees, the water, the sky... and they are telling me to focus on what's true and important within my sphere of influence. Because what one thinks about, one manifests.
There is a lot of good news out there if we look closely.
