As a citizen of the planet, I celebrate all holidays. Hence, we are taking an integration week break for Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year and the start of the High Holy-days (holi-days!)
My DNA test says I have Ashkinazi blood, (probably from my Spanish great grandmother who had roots in Russia). I was not raised in Jewish culture, so I make my own ceremony from what I know: acknowledging the equinox, eating apples and honey, and thanking the trees and the bees for providing nourishment and sweetness without asking for anything in return... the true Gift Economy!
We can all learn something from that.
