Nuance & Flow

Whenever you think you know something with certainty... think again. The world is full of nuance. Like a plume of smoke or eddies in a stream, everything is constantly moving and changing and flowing into infinite possibilities.

With infinite possibilities comes uncertainty.

As a culture, we are addicted to the illusion of certainty.  We look to experts for answers and get frustrated with their lack of definitiveness. Occasionally we find something we can undoubtably rely on (e.g. gravity), but typically, the concept of certainty becomes most elusive when we are focused on THINGS.

Our culture, and even our language, tends to focus more on nouns (things) and less on verbs (process). Yet, it is in process that everything exists... constantly flowing, moving and responding to everything else.

Instead, if we focus on the RELATIONSHIP between things, flow and nuance start to become more accessible, more coherent, more tangible.

Everything exists in relationship to something... to everything really!

Movement is life... the limitless flow of ever-present becoming.

Stay in the process.

Practice being comfortable with uncertainty.

That's what these lessons are really about
