We are currently experiencing the aftermath of hurricane Debby and my swales are all filled up with rain. While, just a few days ago we had a severe thunderstorm and a microburst that took out a significant number of the largest trees in my woods!

Luckily, other than the trees themselves, no one was hurt and nothing damaged. However, as I make new paths around the torn, broken, and uprooted giants in the woods, I am awed and humbled by the incredible show of power that the wind leveled in under 2 minutes.
I also accept this natural disturbance as something that happens, and it may be a blessing because these woods were in need of a thinning anyway. Yet, even if it was their time to go, it's hard to say goodbye to the biggest, most majestic trees. They will be missed.
